4th Annual Seattle Shorts Film Festival Brings Noteworthy Films and Filmmakers to Seattle
Seattle, WA, August 31, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The 4th annual Seattle Shorts Film Festival will bring another round of outstanding short films and filmmakers to Seattle this November. Three screenings on November 15th at the SIFF Film Center will showcase the best new work of local, US, and international filmmakers. 13 of the 17 films shown will be Seattle premieres. The festival will also feature Q&A sessions with visiting artists, networking events the weekend of Nov. 15th, press opportunities for filmmakers, and awards by a celebrity jury and the audience.
Seattle Shorts Film Festival previously screened two Oscar qualifying shorts, Do I Have to Take Care of Everything? (2013) and Curfew (2012), which won the Academy Award for best live action picture. The festival will present another exciting lineup of local, national and international films this year, including: The Lord of Catan, featuring Amy Acker and Fran Kranz (stars in Joss Whedon’s 2013 Much Ado About Nothing);The Hero Pose, shot in Washington by local filmmaker Mischa Jakupcak and staring Nikki Hahn and Chaske Spencer (Winter in the Blood and Twilight); Tobacco Burn, a beautifully shot student film set before the Civil War and based on an oral history from the Works Progress Administration’s collection of slave narratives; Water, Ice, Snow, which documents the work of artist/educator Sasha Sicurella with children in Mongolia; The First Hope, a Star Wars themed coming of age story starring Lili Reinhart and Davis Desmond that will be shown in 35mm; One Please, written and directed by Jesse Burks and starring horror icon Michael Berryman; and The Wood House, featuring Alicia Goranson of Roseanne and Boys Don’t Cry.
Along with bringing a diverse array of films for festival attendees to enjoy, Seattle Shorts will provide opportunities for filmmakers and fans to meet each other and get inspired. Pre-festival meet and greets and a film night will be held at the Tin Lizzy Lounge in the MarQueen Hotel. Festival sponsors the MarQueen Hotel and Tin Lizzy Lounge are walking distance from Seattle Center in Lower Queen Anne and provide upscale hospitality and historical charm to festival attendees. Following each screening will be a Q&A session with any attending filmmakers and cast members. Guests currently scheduled to attend are Bunee Tomlinson, Director of Hana; Lynn Pulsifer, Writer and Director of A Fish Tale, and Sasha Sicurella of Water, Ice, Snow, and founder of the I Am Foundation. The director from each selected film will also have the opportunity to be interviewed by Festival Director Daniel Hoyos in I AM Entertainment Magazine, a leading film, TV, and music magazine.
The jury includes Venus DeMilo Thomas from Nickelodeon's Salute Your Shorts, Christina Rose star of How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song, and Savanah Wiltfong star of Dear Lemon Lima and Coldwood. Awards include audience favorites from each screening block, Grand Jury Prize, Best Director, Cinematographer, Actress, Actor, Documentary, Animation, and College Student Short (the winner of which will receive a 6 month subscription to I Am Entertainment Magazine.)
