)-- Egress Software Technologies, provider of award-winning encryption solutions to children’s services charities, is pleased to announce that St Christopher’s Fellowship has adopted Egress Switch Secure Email and File Transfer to protect highly confidential information shared with external third parties.
Registered children’s charity St Christopher’s Fellowship has provided crucial services to vulnerable children and young people since 1870, including fostering, children’s homes and supported housing. In order to provide all-round care for their service users, St Christopher’s Fellowship works closely with a network of external organisations, including local authorities, health and social care providers, and educational establishments. This work often involves communicating highly sensitive information about vulnerable children and young people, and consequently the charity recognised the need to protect this information while in transit.
“Like many organisations, our predominant form of communication with employees, clients and external third party partners is email, due to the obvious cost and efficiency savings,” explains St Christopher’s IT Manager Bill Kennedy. "Given the highly sensitive nature of the information we share, to mitigate the data protection risks associated with email, such as users accidentally sending information to the wrong email address and recipients mishandling shared information, we identified the need to implement an encryption solution that would keep us in control of the data at all times."
“Having previously received information from our local authority, the London Borough of Brent, using Egress Switch, we were familiar with its comprehensive security and control features,” continues Kennedy. “Package restrictions and the ability to revoke access to sent information, for example, enable our staff to remain in control of the information they share at all times and therefore extend the level of care we offer to our service users.”
Egress UK Sales Manager Kelly McCann comments: “By adopting Switch Secure Email and File Transfer, St Christopher’s Fellowship has taken a proactive step to protect sensitive data, and in turn, their service users and external partners. It is vital that charities such as St Christopher’s Fellowship put in place solutions that enable them to not only work in close partnership with local authorities, hospitals and care workers, as well as with other agencies, but to do so securely. By implementing Switch to protect this highly sensitive information, St Christopher’s Fellowship has demonstrated the importance they place on safeguarding the vulnerable children and young adults in their care.”
