New York Slice Company Opens in Sarasota, Florida

New Sarasota, Florida, Pizzeria Features Hand-Tossed New York-Style Pizza.

Sarasota, FL, September 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- New York Slice Company, a pizzeria featuring gourmet, hand-tossed, New York-style pizza, has opened in the Town & Country Shopping Plaza, 501 N. Beneva Road, Sarasota, Florida 34232.

Among the specialty items offered are "Harvest Special" pizzas featuring locally sourced produce and meats. The restaurant also serves calzones, strombolis, pastas, appetizers, salads and desserts.

"We hand-select all of our meats and produce from the best available sources in Florida," said chef Brad Rudy, who owns New York Slice Company with partner Mike Pittman and sister Cheryl Jones. "Whenever possible, our produce comes from local farms."

The restaurant design, with lounge seating and dining counters, along with a scattering of cribbage boards, checkers, horseshoes and other games, was inspired by Brad's trip to the OM Tulum Beach Hotel in Tulum, Mexico. "Life can get so fast paced," said Brad. "I want to create a safe and relaxing harbor where people can just catch their breath."

A Sarasota native, Brad is still remembered in some circles as the lead singer and acoustic guitar player for the local blues band, "Sonic Blue." He credits his early interest in pizza to a man he never met, Joe Stromboli, a New Yorker who taught his mother, Mama Rudy, to cook Italian dishes. Brad later worked at a 5-star Sarasota restaurant called Quintiliano’s, where he continued to learn about the artistry and chemistry of creating fine cuisine.

The desire to pursue his music career led him to Atlanta, then New York City, where he became enamored with New York-style pizza. He later realized his dream of opening his own pizzeria, Rico's Pizzeria, in Fairmount, Georgia, where he perfected his pizza sauces and recipes. After eight years of operating in Georgia, Brad has come home, offering Sarasota the best New York Style pizza that he knows how to make.

"Where better to share what I have experienced in my travels than in a place that will always be home to me," Brad added.
