A Family RAYunion

A Ray Charles Tribute Celebration on Duluth Town Green.

Duluth, GA, September 25, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Food Truck Friday is a weekly event that makes the City of Duluth a popular hang-out spot for families and friends. No exception will be made on Friday, October 3rd as the City of Duluth kicks off a Ray Charles celebration.

For the first time ever, Ray Charles’ children will gather together – along with his many fans – to honor and commemorate the music and stories of the life they shared with their late father, at “A FamilyRAYunion” in downtown Duluth. The festivities begin with a free community block party on Duluth Town Green from 5-9 p.m., featuring food trucks, family activities, and plenty of live entertainment, with performances by The Tim Montgomery Band, De’Laniger Sounds’ Saxophonist Reginald C. Harris, and other guest celebrity artists. The movie “Ray” will be the featured film of the evening and will begin at dusk.

“We always try to do something different every Friday and this event does just that! Residents can not only enjoy great food, live entertainment, and a movie on us, but also the thrill of meeting and seeing celebrities,” said event coordinator Maggie Waddell. The celebration will continue at downtown Duluth’s premier music venue, Red Clay Theatre, from 8-10 p.m. Several celebrity artists are scheduled to perform, including [singer, R&B, Neo Soul Recording Artist & sibling of John Legend, Vaughn Anthony; R&B Sensation, Sherrell; Uros Peric, from Slovenija; Fresh RainRecording Artist, Antonia Lawrence; and children of Ray Charles - Sheila Raye Charles, Robyn Moffitt, Ray Charles Robinson, Jr., Reanee Robinson and Kevin L. & more] - Additional artists are still to be announced.

Rounding out the evening is the After Party “Jam Session” starting at 10 p.m. and continuing into the late night. It will include world famous celebrities, live entertainment, and a chance to meet the family of Ray and party with the stars.
