Egress Switch Becomes the First Email Encryption Solution to Achieve Both CESG PGA and CPA

Egress Software Technologies, the leading provider of cloud-based and on-premise encryption services to the UK Public Sector, receives CESG Pan Government Accreditation (PGA) for its Software as a Service (SaaS), following Commercial Product Assurance (CPA) certification in October 2013.

London, United Kingdom, October 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Egress Software Technologies, the leading provider of hosted and on-premise encryption services designed to secure all forms of shared electronic information, today confirms that its flagship service Egress Switch has been awarded Pan Government Accreditation (PGA) status from CESG (The National Technical Authority for Information Assurance), supporting Official and Official-Sensitive data sharing.

Operating as the UK National Technical Authority for Information Assurance, CESG is charged with enabling secure and trusted knowledge sharing, primarily serving central government departments and agencies, as well as the armed forces. Within this market, services are increasingly shared by multiple government departments as a way to reduce costs. The accreditation of these systems can be complex, since different departments will have different threat profiles and risk appetites. The PGA service is provided by CESG to manage the combined risks efficiently on behalf of all Public Sector organisations involved.

Today’s announcement sees Switch become the first product and service in the UK to have achieved both PGA and Commercial Product Assurance (CPA) certification (awarded in October 2013).

As a result, the Switch fully managed file encryption service (SaaS) can be used by organisations across the Public Sector to share and process Official and Official-Sensitive information over the internet, without the need to manage external third party credentials.

A CESG spokesperson said: “CESG is delighted that Egress has built upon the successful CPA certification of the Switch product and used it as the basis for delivering an accredited G-cloud service. Egress has recognised the HMG requirement to securely communicate via the internet with both suppliers and citizens. The company then took an innovative approach building upon the certified product and integrating it into a service that CESG was able to accredit for government use.”

Tony Pepper, CEO of Egress, explains: “Since 2011, we have been working closely with organisations across the Public Sector to provide assured encryption services that solve the on-going challenge they face when trying to share sensitive information with external third parties not on existing government accredited networks and systems.

“Working closely with the team at CESG, we have looked to tackle this information sharing challenge head on by offering customers UK Government assured technology and services. This is the major reason why in October 2013 Switch became the first, and currently only, email encryption product to achieve CPA certification. Today’s announcement regarding our PGA accreditation represents a natural next step in our ability to offer customers secure, flexible and scalable encryption services.

“In doing so, we are now able to provide an encryption services platform that enables Public Sector organisations and their supply chain partners to improve efficiency and enhance the services they provide to the wider market, while delivering end-to-end information assurance throughout the lifecycle of shared information.”

The Egress Switch Software as a Service (SaaS) is available to purchase via G-Cloud 5 and the NATO IA Product Catalogue:
