Freedom Ride Through Pilots n Paws

Hundreds of animals saved from high kill shelters through the joint efforts of Pilots n Paws and volunteer animal rescue groups.

West Palm Beach, FL, October 03, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue: Flying Animals To Freedom, One Paw At A Time.

On Saturday September 27, Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue of West Palm Beach, FL, participated once again in the Pilots and Paws Freedom Flight. A rescue consisting of 100% volunteer staff, the names and faces behind Justin Bartlett are repeat participants in the annual event, entirely dedicated to the cause so close to their hearts: saving the animals at risk of becoming victim to euthanasia, and helping them find their happy endings with loving families, in a loving home.

Those at Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue work around the clock to ensure they not only save as many animals as they can, but improve the quality of life for these animals while they are in their care. When waiting for the flights to arrive, volunteers were already on the runway - armed with food, treats and necessary supplies to help the new arrivals – confused, terrified dogs in their hundreds, who would have otherwise been sent to their deaths at various different kill shelters nationwide.

Diane Potter, a Director at Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue, speaks of her experience on the day after the Freedom Flight: “At 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning we will all meet back at the hanger where vans, cars and buses from dozens of locations throughout the southeast coastline will have gathered…each one filled to the gills with dogs and cats of every shape, size, color, sex and breed…all from death row. Nearly 900 doggies will be flown from the brink of death tomorrow.” She ends her statement with “Rescue is the greatest reward.” – a sentiment echoed by all at Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue, and the volunteers assisting them.

The annual event has gained fame across the state of Florida, and the rescue was inundated with requests to help. Over 50 planes were used, flown entirely by volunteer pilots. Several hundreds pounds of puppy food was donated by both Woof Gang Bakery, and Christie Banks of Sunny 107.9. Toys, treats and grooming supplies were donated by Mary Wong, of the Office Depot Foundation.

By participating in such an honorable event, not only is Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue saving countless animals from being unnecessarily euthanized, but the volunteers go the extra mile for each and every life they save. After enjoying their flights to freedom, all animals are given vet checks, and are spayed/neutered before a caring, forever home is found for every single life. Together, they provide the tender loving care necessary for such an event to be a success.
