Webinar Tackles Mental Health Stigma and Search for Services in the African American Community

The next NJ Center for Tourette Syndrome Wednesday Webinar is October 29th.

Somerville, NJ, October 26, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome (NJCTS) presents an exploration of mental health stigma and help finding services in the African American community on October 29. This presentation will be delivered by Dr. Christine Adkins-Hutchison as part of the NJCTS Wednesday Webinar series.

Asking for psychological help or counseling can be challenging, especially within the African American community, according to Dr. Adkins-Hutchison. She will discuss ways to recognize the need for support and ways to encourage help-seeking within this population.

Dr. Christine Adkins-Hutchison

Dr. Adkins-Hutchison is associate director of the Office of Counseling and Disability Services at Kean University. She provides individual and group counseling to students, offers community consultation to faculty, staff and students and facilitates therapy groups for women of color. Dr. Adkins-Hutchison trains students, faculty and administrative staff in a variety of areas from conflict resolution to suicide prevention. Prior to her role at Kean, she served as a senior staff psychologist and coordinator of group psychotherapy at the Office of Counseling, Alcohol and other Drug and Psychiatry Services at Rutgers University.
