Navigating the Security Risks of VoIP: CIO Roundtable

Toronto IT leaders to discuss pressing telecom issues in executive forum.

Toronto, Canada, November 15, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Avema Corporation, a Toronto-based Telecom and Mobile Management company, has announced the first event in its CIO Roundtable Series, happening on December 2nd, 2014, focusing on the security risks of VoIP. The roundtable is intended to provide IT executives with the opportunity to discuss and explore critical telecom and IT issues. RSVP at www.avema.com/event-dec2014-security.html.

“While many companies have made the move to VoIP, or are in the process of doing so, VoIP’s security risks still haven’t been fully analyzed,” said Roger Yang, CEO of Avema Corporation. “With new security breaches revealed on a weekly basis, we’d like to provide a forum where IT leaders can discuss their concerns, share their experiences, and learn from their peers.”

Participating in the CIO Roundtable, which is entitled “Navigating the Security Risks of VoIP,” is one of Canada’s top IT lawyers, Eric Boehm, Partner, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, who will offer insight into the legal issues that VoIP presents, especially surrounding data integrity and security. Ned Zecevic, VP of Eastern Canada, IT with Canaccord has already migrated his organization to VoIP, and will be able to share Canaccord’s journey as part of the discussion. Also joining the roundtable will be John Collins, Director, TELUS, and Aldo Fazzalari, Director, Avaya Canada. Moderating the discussion will be telecom industry veteran, Roger Yang, CEO of Avema Corporation.

“IT executives are often handling the widest range of functions within a company, and telecom is not as often brought to the surface as a pressing issue. However, the lifeblood of an organization is communicating with clients, and IT is accountable for this function,” said Yang. “The ability to connect is at the heart of an organization, and IT needs to ensure that these communications are secure, and that security risks are mitigated.”

The CIO Roundtable on December 2nd is a limited seating event. To inquire further or register, IT executives should visit www.Avema.com. There are a few seats designated for media, which can be reserved by calling 416-348-7280.
