Designing Spaces™ Teams up with Operation Homefront for Military Home Makeover Series

“Designing Spaces of Hope -- Military Makeover” will chronicle the renovations of a Purple Heart Hero’s townhouse that was provided by Operation Homefront; series hosted by R. Lee Ermey, TV and screen actor, and former U.S. Marine Drill Instructor

Pompano Beach, FL, November 19, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Operation Homefront will be featured on the award-winning home improvement show Designing Spaces in the first episode of the three-part miniseries Designing Spaces of Hope -- Military Makeover on Friday, November 21 at 7:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Lifetime. Operation Homefront is a valued partner of the series, and provided the townhouse for the military family.

“Designing Spaces of Hope – Military Makeover,” presented by Nissan, and airing for three consecutive Fridays, November 21, 28 and December 5 at 7:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Lifetime will take viewers step-by-step along the journey to see how the townhouse of wounded Purple Heart Hero Stephen Lunt, his wife Ashley and their son is transformed into a more comfortable home.

While in Afghanistan, Lunt was forced to fight an insurgent in hand-to-hand combat, which resulted in multiple surgeries and a long and painful recovery. Viewers will need to tune in to hear his full story.

Designing Spaces has partnered again with Operation Homefront to make an impact in the life of this very special family. Through its Homes on the Homefront program, Operation Homefront – with the help of its corporate partners – awards mortgage-free homes to veterans of any era, helping bring the American dream of home ownership to those who have sacrificed so much for their country.

“Giving back and honoring our veterans, especially our wounded veterans who have sacrificed so much for our nation’s freedoms that we all enjoy, is truly in itself the greatest reward that I can think of. I have made it the largest part of my life. And, being able to work with like-minded people who share the same respect and sense of duty towards our returning military veterans is something that I really enjoy. Being a part of this show, and what they are trying to do for a wounded veteran and his family, is something I just had to be a part of,” says Ermey.

Ermey is best known for his TV and Movie career which has spanned over three decades, including his break-out role as the tough Drill Instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket. He is a retired United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant and Drill Instructor who was later honored by the Marine Corps in 2002.

“Giving back to our Military is something that Designing Spaces truly takes to heart. We are thrilled to be working with Operation Homefront again, and are honored to have R. Lee Ermey, 'The Gunny', as our host for this special edition of Designing Spaces,” said Scott Moss, Director of Programming, Designing Spaces.
