Available from MoBiTec GmbH: Unique Ready-to-Use Vectors for Live Cell Imaging of Nuclear Proteins

During cell division the kinetochore is the protein structure on chromatids where the spindle fibers attach to pull sister chromatids apart. MoBiTec now offers unique gene fusion constructs of proteins to investigate kinetochore formation and cell division.

Goettingen, Germany, November 20, 2014 --(PR.com)-- During mitosis, spindle fibers attach to the centromere via the kinetochore. The centromere is the part of a chromosome that links sister chromatids. At each centromere binds a multi-protein complex named the kinetochore. The inner kinetochore directly binds to the centromeric chromatin during the whole cell cycle. During mitosis, further proteins of the outer kinetochore bind to the inner kinetochore and establish the stable link between the centromeric chromatin and the microtubuli. This mechanical connection is regulated by proteins of the mitotic checkpoint. MoBiTec offers a large number of unique expression vectors coding for human Kinetochore, Chaperone, Histone, Mitotic Checkpoint, Mis12 Complex, and Hec1 Complex proteins in fusion with EGFP. Most of the fusion proteins can be expressed either with N- or C-terminal EGFP tag.

For investigation of nuclear proteins the following unique fusion protein expression vectors are now available:

• Expression of Human Inner Kinetochore Fusion Proteins
• Expression of Human Histone Fusion Proteins
• Expression of Human Chaperone Fusion Proteins
• Expression of Human Mitotic Checkpoint Fusion Proteins
• Expression of Human Mis12 Complex Fusion Proteins
• Expression of Human Hec1 Complex Fusion Proteins

Features

• Large selection of genes
• Sequence-documented vectors
• Functional elements (genes) are sequence verified
• Vectors have been applied to live cell imaging experiments

Applications:

The kinetochore EGFP fusion proteins can be used in modern fluorescence microscopy techniques to determine

• localization,
• binding,
• dynamics, and, when a second color is available,
• protein-protein interactions and
• protein-protein proximities
applying fluorescence methods like FRET, FRAP, FCS, RICS, FCCS, and F3H.

The number of available fusion protein expression vectors will be continuously extended. MoBiTec would be happy to also include fusion protein vectors developed in others labs! Interested scientists may contact MoBiTec at info@mobitec.com.
