The Asia Institute Announces 2015 Global Education Scholarships

Santa Fe, NM, December 03, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Asia Institute announced today the continuation of the organization’s efforts to support global education with financial scholarships awarded through the One Yuan One Dream Foundation. With a mission to build the leading education platform connecting Asia with the rest of the world, the Asia Institute has joined the Generation Study Abroad initiative, and by 2019 has committed to awarding over $15,000 annually to scholarships supporting global learning programs.

The One Yuan One Dream Foundation was created by the Asia Institute to assist academically strong students from lower income backgrounds, who are seeking to expand their global awareness and knowledge, while also pursuing their dreams. In 2015, the One Yuan One Dream Foundation will be providing scholarships to students in China, who would not otherwise have the financial means to participate in Philips Exeter Academy’s Summer School. This will be the third year of the Asia Institute’s collaboration with Philips Exeter Academy. Last summer’s recipients of the scholarships were high school students Chenpan Qi and Zhicheng Xu.

In addition, the Asia Institute and the One Yuan One Dream Foundation are actively working with international education related partners to develop a series of scholarships for students from the United States to support and expand their global learning in Asia. In 2015, the Asia Institute and the One Yuan One Dream Foundation, in collaboration with the Academy of International Business Southeast (AIB-SE), will establish an annual scholarship of $1000 for university students studying in the United States who are pursuing a degree in international business.

Upon announcing these initiatives, Bradley A Feuling, Chairman of the Asia Institute, noted, “The Asia Institute is committed to supporting students who dream big and realize that going global is no longer a luxury, but rather a necessity. We greatly value our partnerships with Phillips Exeter Academy and the Academy of International Business Southeast, and look forward to meeting and supporting more deserving students who are passionate about the global opportunities that exist today, and who realize the uniqueness of our time in history.”

In addition to the Asia Institute’s commitments of financial scholarships, in joining the Generation Study Abroad initiative, the Asia Institute also committed to the following goals by 2019:

- Increasing the number of minority and other underrepresented students on Asia Institute programs to over 20%.
- Annually publishing the Asia Short-Term Programs Report, the first comprehensive regional report on Asia short-term educational programs.
- Annually publishing the Asia Institute’s activities and progress towards meeting the Generation Study Abroad initiative commitments made, on the organization’s website.
