Focus on Smiles is Utlizing Laser Treatment During Teeth Cleaning

Edmonton, Canada, December 11, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The dental office of Focus on Smiles is constantly striving to advance the standard of care and has recently introduced the use of lasers during routine professional teeth cleaning. Focus on Smiles' hygienist, Selda S., has embraced that commitment to continuing dental education and has recently completed certification in the use of lasers during teeth cleaning.

Selda braved the heaviest snowfall and worst winter weather of the season to travel to Calgary, Alberta, where the course took place.

Over the last few years, improved techniques have been developed and refined, which eliminate bacteria under the collar of the gum tissue. Killing the bad bacteria that cause gum disease using a soft tissue diode laser reduces the risk of this bacteria entering the bloodstream and spreading from one area of the mouth to another. Laser Bacterial Reduction helps fight gum inflammation that can lead to periodontal disease - a condition affecting almost 80% of adults.

Laser Bacterial Reduction (LBR) is easy to do, painless (no anaesthetic is required) and normally takes 5-10 minutes. This, along with traditional scaling and root planing, will enhance your gum health.

At Focus on Smiles, the hard working and educated Team is dedicated to providing Clients with state-of-the-art health care procedures.
