Jerry’s Artarama Launches Artopia, an Art Education Program for Raleigh Area Youth

Artopia Promotes Creativity, Engagement and Innovation for Children of All Ages.

Raleigh, NC, December 11, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Jerry’s Artarama, a national retailer of art supplies and materials headquartered in Raleigh, has announced the opening of Artopia, an educational program that focuses on expanding children’s involvement with the arts. Artopia was created with the philosophy that art education is an opportunity to engage the whole person and to open up the minds of students to exciting new possibilities. The world-class studio is located in the heart of North Raleigh at 6109 Maddry Oaks Ct.

Artopia offers a wide variety of youth and aftercare art programs that cater to a child’s age and specific needs. Classes are created to highlight the connection between the arts and culture, while at the same time offer instruction on how to improve their technical art abilities. All programs are led by a staff of degreed, enthusiastic trainers and are taught in a safe, encouraging environment. Along with developing skills that go beyond the classroom, Artopia also aids in fostering creativity and creating new friendships. While visual arts education is the program’s main focus, Artopia also integrates other disciplines such as music, dance, theatre and fashion. Through this program, children are encouraged to put down their cell phones and video games and instead begin enriching their lives through a multi-media arts education.

Artopia programs are designed to build creative confidence and raise children’ self-esteem. The programs are structured but still allow kids to explore their creative outlets. Programs include track out camps, six-week art immersion programs and high school open studio sessions. Artopia is also planning to offer a portfolio development class that emphasizes preparation for the art world beyond the classroom.

Parents are encouraged to get involved with their children’s art education through Artopia’s weekend family events, and they can even create art with their children through the “Make Art With Your Kids” series. Artopia is also available to host birthday parties and other events.
