)-- Dramaforum, a media company specializing in products that inspire children to discover the wonders of the world safely online, today announced that Petra’s Planet user registrations have surpassed 1,000,000. To celebrate this milestone, starting December 11, 2014, children who visit Petra’s Planet will be able to participate in a special weeklong Player Power event to collect special items and rewards.
“In Petra’s Planet children can play games, created according to real cultural activities in those areas of the world, complete challenging missions, which give kids the rewarding experience of helping others, and have fun with their friends,” said Eevamaria Halttunen, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Dramaforum. “We are very pleased that children are enjoying Petra’s Planet and are bringing their friends with them.”
Petra’s Planet is designed for children ages 7-11, but is open to children of all ages. Petra’s Planet is funded by subscriptions along with in-game micro-transactions and a gift model. However children do not need to be paying members to visit, explore or play games. Parents can buy a membership for their children in one-month, six-month or 12-month increments. With membership kids get access to special pet toys and exclusive clothing items and a monthly allowance of KIPPs, the virtual currency used in Petra’s Planet.
Building on the success of Petra’s Planet, Dramaforum has created Petra’s Planet for Schools, an education specific virtual world that enables schools to teach 21st Century Learning Principles, e-safety and digital literacy skills to their students. Used by teachers across the globe, Petra’s Planet for Schools is helping to turn children into digitally responsible young citizens.
