When Liffey Meats, one of Irelands leading beef processors and meat exporters needed a flooring upgrade in its 600m2 boning hall at its Ballyjamesduff premises in Cavan, they approached FloorTech® to deliver a quick professional flooring solution. Due to the nature of activities conducted within a meat processing environment and in particular on a boning hall floor, Liffey Meats requirements were very specific. A flooring solution that would perform to BRC Global Standards for hygiene and one that could be installed quickly and efficiently with minimum downtown which is paramount for a busy production plant was the requirement.

The upgraded floor needed to be nonslip, tough and durable to withstand all manner of eventualities encountered within such an environment. FloorTech®s Trazcon® Décor Screed System 3 was the optimum solution specified for the Boning Hall possessing all of the above qualities as well as being proven to be 98% cleaner than alternatives, impervious and easy to maintain.

As well as choosing the right flooring surface, there was also the matter of ‘installation time’ to consider. Aware that a busy production plant such as Liffey Meats required minimum disruption and minimal downtown, FloorTech® works were carried out over a three stage installation process which included the removal of the old floor coatings and contaminates, preparing the surface (allowing for the installation of new drainage system) and finally the application of resin floor finishes. FloorTech®s brief was to complete all works over one weekend commencing on a Saturday morning, working through in order to hand the area back to Liffey Meats on time for production to resume on Monday morning without any delays. FloorTech® successfully provided Liffey Meats with a high quality floor upgrade on time and within budget.
