William Peace University Celebrates Record Attendance During 2014 Fall Open Houses

Four-Year Baccalaureate University Experiences 64 Percent Spike in Campus Visitors During 2014 Fall Open House Events

Raleigh, NC, December 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- William Peace University, (http://www.peace.edu/) a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, is proud to announce that it experienced record attendance during its 2014 fall open house events. During that time period, the University welcomed hundreds of prospective students, families and friends, which represented a 64 percent spike in visits and personal tours when compared to open house data collected in fall of 2013.

The University is coming off a successful year where it celebrated several academic accomplishments, including being named No. 1 in the nation for student internships by U.S. News & World Report, and being ranked among the top 10% nationwide for student-faculty interaction, along with higher-order learning, reflective and integrative learning, learning strategies, discussions with diverse others, and supportive environment (2013 National Survey of Student Engagement).

Additionally, the University celebrated a continued success rate regarding student outcomes and job placement, announcing an employment/further education placement rate of 97 percent for its 2013 graduates one year following graduation. The statistic was the third highest employment/graduate school placement rate for the University since data began being collected in 2000.

“We’re extremely proud to report numbers like this,” said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., President of William Peace University. “Not only do they reflect the growth of our institution, but also the hours, days, weeks, and months of hard work put in by our faculty and staff.”

“Visiting a campus is one of the most important steps for a student to take when looking at colleges and universities,” said Justin G. Roy, Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing. “The WPU community was excited and thankful to have the opportunity to showcase William Peace University, and we look forward to seeing those students on campus in the fall.”

“Being a student worker in the Admissions Department, this is great news,” said Emily Banegas ’16. “It’s great to see the hard work paying off and the hundreds of potential new faces that could soon be on campus.”

The University will continue to host Open Houses throughout the spring, plus a special summer edition of the event. To view a detailed list of those dates, please visit: http://www.peace.edu/events/admission-events.

About William Peace University:

William Peace University is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. It was founded in 1857 as Peace Institute, offering education for boys and girls in primary grades and to women from high school to college. Peace, an all-women's college, became a four-year baccalaureate college and graduated its first bachelor's students in August of 1996. Exclusively an all-women's institution for its first 152 years, Peace began offering coeducational evening courses through the William Peace School of Professional Studies in 2009. In 2011, Peace College transitioned to William Peace University and welcomed its first coeducational class to its day program in fall 2012. Its mission is to prepare students for careers in the organizations of tomorrow. On average, more than 90 percent of the university's graduates are placed in jobs or graduate school within one year of graduation. In fact, the University is ranked No. 1 in the nation among colleges with the highest rate of internships, according to a 2013 study conducted by U.S. News & World Report.
