Brooklyn, NY, January 07, 2015 --(PR.com
)-- The Kings County Steelers Youth Football Club Inc. will enter the 2015 season as the Kings County Chiefs Youth Football Club Inc. On December 31, 2014, the organization officially announced their name change in a public press statement by its President, Flash Russo. The Kings County Chiefs Youth Football Club Inc. will maintain its nonprofit 501(c)(3) status and continue its PLAY NYC Initiative, which allows New York City youth to play elite-level, travel league football for free, irrespective of their economic status.
The Chiefs spokesman stated that the name change from the Steelers to the Chiefs is the result of a number of factors. One of which being, that the Steelers name was actually inherited and not chosen. Parent Liaison, Luvinia Monge stated, “It didn’t really seem sensible to remain the Steelers. We have strong ties to the Chiefs name. Our Head Coach spent time with the NFL Kansas City Chiefs and his stepfather was a Chiefs player that is now in the NFL Hall of Fame.” In addition to this, the NFL Kansas City Chiefs have committed to helping the organization. Chief Executive Officer, Charles Phillips and his corporation, Infor, Kings County’s corporate sponsor, also have a red and white logo that will adorn the organization’s jerseys. The Kings County Chiefs Youth Football Club 2015 uniforms will be modeled after the Kansas City Chiefs home uniform.
