Vembu Releases BDR v2.1

Since 2004, Vembu’s industry-recognized cloud solutions have delivered tangible value to more than 25,000 businesses worldwide through a network of 4000+ partners (MSPs/VARs & Resellers).

Dallas, TX, January 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Vembu Technologies, a leading provider of affordable software and cloud services for small and medium sized businesses, is pleased to announce the release of Vembu BDR v2.1. This release has new set of features that brings user experience to a whole new level.

BDR v2.1 now extends its storage support to GPT hard disks (sizes greater than 2TB), where we have previously supported hard disks of size less than or equal to 2 TB and is of MBR partition. GPT supported backup software is less common in the IT industry.

Santha Vignesh, a Backup and Disaster Recovery Product Analyst says “With scalability in mind, offering support for backing up terabytes of data will be crucial in the future. When it comes to large amounts of data, efficiency is the key factor when enterprises are looking for a backup product.”

Vembu’s dedication to providing scalable and efficient backup software with BDR v2.1 has led to other innovations as well. A four-tier backup verification system was put in place to help protect against data loss.

The four-tier system includes:

Integrity Check – Ensures that backups are available for restore by periodic checking of backup data.

Mount Check – Checks the consistency of backups by mounting the backup data virtually.

Check Disk – Running check disk (chkdsk) for backup data ensures that no corruption is present in the backup data.

Boot Check – Takes periodic screenshots of the boot page to ensure backup data boots successfully.

With BDR 2.1,Vembu introduced its very own proprietary driver for CBT backups – SiP™ which allows users to have their VM machines backed up with ease by tracking VM machines for changed blocks. These changes alone are backed up with the help of Vembu driver. This improves backup time and restore performance.

Other enhancements include the support of disk level restores for VM machines in VMWare, where specific disks of VM can be restored to destined VM locations and the ability to download or boot the backed up image files as VHDX format. In addition to that, VHDX is available for booting.
