NYC School District Works with WhizFish to Publish First Parent Communication Mobile App

District 11 Superintendent makes communication history again.

Bronx, NY, January 21, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Innovative NYC DOE District 11 Superintendent Maria Lopez is announcing that the mobile communications app for her district has been published and is ready for parents, students, and staff to download from the iTunes App Store and Google Play for use on their Apple and Android phones and tablets. Before overseeing the development of this district-wide mobile app, Lopez directed the same for I.S 318 where she served as founding principal prior to being appointed superintendent last Fall. It was the first school communications app to be published for NYC Schools; Now, once again, Lopez implements the first district communication app to be published in NYC Districts.

"Mobile communication is the new school communication," said Lopez. "Nearly every parent of school-aged kids carries a phone and many have a phone and a tablet and that's what they use to communicate with the world, including school. We strongly believe this is one the most powerful tools available to engage parents, students, and staff."

Mobile apps for schools are becoming very popular with school administrators. The interactive tool allows schools to use push notifications to alert parents in an instant. Mobile school apps also have a great number of other useful features including GPS directions, mobile shopping carts to pay fees or for school lunches, real time school news feeds, mobile forms and registration packets, schedules, school contact names and numbers, interactive voice recording (contact your Superintendent, Principals, Teachers), social media integration and more.

District 11 realizes just how important education is and how critical it is to engage the community in the education process of each child. District 11 is filled with great schools that have a lot to offer students at each grade level. The community made up of teachers, parents, administrators, and other local organizations work together for the best interest of the children. The educational programs in district 11 offers a wide range of rigorous instructions that meet the strengths and weakness of each individual child regardless of language barrier, social, emotional or special needs. Our curriculum includes technology, engineering mathematics, project based learning, inquiries, and the basic educational needs of Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Parents , administrators and faculty strive to maintain a learning environment that promotes self worth, respect for others, and the appreciation of learning.

The District 11 Mobile App, the first district app, and other mobile apps published for NYC Schools, were developed by WhizFish, a mobile app agency that specializes in working with schools to help them with interactive and mobile outreach and communication. The company, with offices in Ohio and Florida, works with both public and private.
