The collector is first drawn in by the beauty and mystery of ancient art. One cannot help but be amazed at the remarkable skill and quality workmanship of the ancient hand. However, possessing an ancient artifact provides many tangible benefits beyond pure aesthetics. The intimacy of owning an object triggers the desire to enhance ones knowledge about the object and the culture associated with the piece. Increasing exposure to works of distant cultures highlights the common bond everyone shares.

Collectors provide a vital role in the preservation ancient artifacts. Collectors act as custodians of the past, links in a chain, preserving the past for future generations by passing their collections on to their heirs, reselling them to eager collectors, or donating them to museums. In doing so, the collector of ancient art reaps the many benefits of acquiring truly unique and thought provoking objects that have come down to us from the ancients, whose influences pervade every aspect of the modern world.
