Exciting Collaborative Arts Project Planned

Oswestry, United Kingdom, January 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Art Department at Walford and North Shropshire College (WNSC) and Designs in Mind are going to be taking part in a collaborative community art project, the project will raise awareness of mental health as well as the role that art plays in recovery.

Kate Smallwood, Art Lecturer, commented, "It’s exciting for the Art Department to forge links with Design in Mind; I’m also looking forward to seeing the creative work that will be produced as part of the project." Kate added, "The project is a great way to raise awareness of the role art plays in supporting sufferers of mental health issues."

Ideas for the project have been inspired by a ceramicist, Mitsy Sleurs, and a project called ‘99 feelings’. The project is themed around using eggs to express emotion; each participant will make and fire an egg and may use colours or materials to illustrate a feeling such as happiness, sadness, healing etc. The result of the project will be a ceramic installation which would be made up of individual parts (which would be made by participants of Designs in Mind and art students at WNSC) and then assembled.

You can apply now for Art Courses at www.wnsc.ac.uk or call the College Admissions Team 01691 688080.
