Scott Rajavuori Responds to Harvard Home Remodeling Study

Minnesota-based home remodeling professional comments on LIRA predictions.

Savage, MO, January 28, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Scott Rajavuori, Minnesota-based home remodeler, addresses the Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity (LIRA) for the first quarter of 2015, published by the Remodeling Futures Program at the Joint Center of Housing Studies of Harvard University.

Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies publishes a LIRA recurrently in the third week after each quarter's closing. It provides an outlook for the current quarter, as well as the statistics from the previous three.

For the quarter, and for the entire year of 2015, the LIRA predicts a decrease in spending on home remodeling projects. While the numbers do not seem to indicate a dramatic reduction, it could still cause concern for some in the home remodeling industry.

Scott Rajavuori is a home remodeling professional from Savage, Minnesota. He has been in the industry for almost 30 years. The company helps to manage, Titus Contracting, specializes in home remodeling, as well as commercial remodeling.

Scott Rajavuori is not discouraged by the LIRA predictions for 2015. He has a different point of view. "The study shows there was a decrease in home buying last year, which logically means more people are staying in their homes," said Scott Rajavuori.

He further explains that people may be looking for ways to upgrade their current home, instead of moving into a new one. One way consumers can accomplish this is to complete a home remodeling project.

"We could see an upswing of bigger home remodeling projects," said Scott Rajavuori. "Instead of just a kitchen or a lower level (remodeling project), we may see more comprehensive, whole-house refurbishing."

In his experience, Scott Rajavuori says that he is seeing more people paying attention to the little things. They are opting for better fixtures, natural stone countertops and stainless-steel appliances. "Every time a homeowner chooses the bigger and better option, it adds to our revenue," said Scott Rajavuori.

At the end of the day, Scott Rajavuori says he's seen it all. "The home remodeling industry, like any industry, ebbs and flows," said Scott Rajavuori. "If the market is down this year, it will eventually bounce back and we'll be ready."
