US Girl Scouts in Paris Help Girls Around the World to Think About Peace

As part of World Thinking Day 2015, USA Girl Scouts Overseas in Paris is reintroducing their Paris Peace Patch in response to the recent tragic events that have taken place in Paris.

Paris, France, January 28, 2015 --(PR.com)-- World Thinking Day is set aside on February 22nd by Girl Scouts and Guides to participate in activities and projects with global themes to honor and think about their “sisters” in all the countries throughout the world.

The theme for this year’s World Thinking Day is “Girls worldwide say 'We can create peace through partnerships.'" and is focused on people coming together for peace.

The purpose of reintroducing the USA Girl Scouts in Paris Peace Patch http://www.girlscoutsinparis.com/patches/ is in response to the recent tragic events that have taken place in Paris, and to encourage girls to:

· Resolve Conflict

· Reach out to others in peace and friendship

· Dedicate themselves to Acts of kindness

· Understand our difference to avoid misunderstandings

· Rejoice in our likenesses

Through this program, Girl Scouts learn about peace through games, role-playing, guided discussions and crafts. When completed, girls are encouraged to hold a Peace Ceremony with their troop, including poems, songs, and readings, for family and friends.

The Paris Peace Patch can be earned at every level of Scouting, meaning girls as young as 5 (Daisies) through 18 years old (Ambassadors) can take part in the Program. Girls from any USA Girl Scout council or USA Girl Scouts Overseas neighborhood are welcome to earn this recognition.

The requirements and patch ordering information can be downloaded directly from the Girl Scouts in Paris website(http://www.girlscoutsinparis.com/patches/). Please contact patches@girlscoutsinparis.com for more information.

About Girl Scouts in Paris: Girl Scouts of the USA supports American girls living abroad through their USA Girl Scouts Overseas program. USAGSO members enjoy the same excitement, fun and adventure in Girl Scouting as their stateside Girl Scout sisters. Since 1949, Paris has hosted one of these overseas locations, and over the years has provided the USA Girl Scout program to more than 5,000 girls living in the Paris region. We currently serve over 200 girls from kindergarten through 12th grade, and have more than 100 adult volunteers.
