Pupils do Crash Course in Forensic Science

Oswestry, United Kingdom, February 07, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Two members of staff from Oswestry Campus of Walford and North Shropshire College attended the annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Career Day at the Priory School. Taking one of the messiest activities imaginable, Science Lecturer, Shôn Prebble, and Science Technician, Paula Beech, showed Year 9 pupils how to lift fingerprints.

Forensic Science lecturer, Shôn, commented "It is vital to engage pupils in Science from a young age, to prove how fun, interesting and life-changing the subject can be, the pupils at Priory School really enjoyed lifting their fingerprints and comparing theirs with other pupils, seeing who had the rarest type and finding out how to catch killers using the type of evidence they were handling!"

Some of the pupils described the fingerprinting activity as “awesome” and “definitely the most fun thing we’ve done”; high praise indeed, the other attendees at the event included the Army, heavy engineering firm Caterpillar and the Film Technology Group.
