Community-Run Coulsdon Bowling Green Announces 2015 Season Opening

The FMLBG are delighted to announce that Coulsdon Memorial Ground's Bowling Green will be reopening on 28th March for the 2015 season after winter maintenance. Golf equipment will also be available for the 18-hole putting course.

London, United Kingdom, February 18, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The FMLBG are delighted to announce that Coulsdon Memorial Ground's Bowling Green will be reopening on 28th March for the 2015 season.

The Opening Day on 28th March offers free putting equipment and bowling from midday onwards. Play is free, and all equipment is provided. With specialist children's bowls and even lighter ones for toddlers, this is a day out for all the family. All you need to do is to wear flat shoes or trainers - no studs. No experience is necessary as coaching can be provided. Putting equipment for all ages will also be available, with a prize for the lowest round.

While casual players can turn up and play through the season, regular players can buy season tickets on the day or purchase them in advance online and collected from the pavilion on the day. The popular household ticket, which covers an entire family for the whole season, is also available.

This will be the second year for the community-run green, which has been restored and run by the community after the council cut support in 2011. In 2014 the Friends of Marlpit Lane Bowling Green re-opened the restored green to the public for an extremely successful first season. Now entirely maintained by volunteers, the green will open for the bowling season each year, from April to October. During the winter months the green is still busy, as maintenance is performed on the grass and equipment to ensure they are in good condition and ready for play.

For anyone who would like to volunteer, there is a Volunteers' Day on March 14th from 2pm at the Bowling Pavilion. Come along to find out about ways to help, or just to find out more about the bowling green. For more information on volunteering, please contact the FMLBG online or by phone.
