Acnodes’ New Mini-ITX Fanless Embedded System Features Haswell Processor

Based on the 4th generation Haswell processor, the FES8680 provides outstanding performance while consuming low amount of power. The FES8680 provides diverse I/O and up to 16 GB DDR3 system memory; and supports 2.5 in. SATA HDD, mini PCI-E mSATA and half size mini PCI-E expansion slot.

Chino, CA, February 21, 2015 --( Acnodes Corp., a leading manufacturer of industrial and embedded computer platforms and technologies, today announced the launch of a new fanless embedded computer, the FES8680. The FES8680 contains a long-life Mini-ITX motherboard that utilizes the 4th generation Haswell processor, delivers extraordinary computing performance while consuming low amount of power. The FES8680 features a robust fanless design, creating a solid state solution with no moving parts, ideal for outdoor advertising, POS/kiosk, transportation, and industrial control automation.

The FES8680 is enclosed in a rugged aluminum chassis and is tested for deployment in temperatures from 32°F to 104°F. The FES8680 has full feature I/Os including 4 serial ports, two Gigabit LAN ports, four USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, audio, as well as VGA and DVI-I out video interfaces. Moreover, the FES8680 has two DDR3 1600MHz SODIMM memory maximum up to 16GB, one mSATA/mini PCI Express shared slot, and one 2.5 in. SATA HDD for solid state storage. With the growth of WiFi connection in industrial-grade product applications, the FES8680 features an optional half size PCI Express Mini card slots for additional wireless connectivity, allowing more efficient, seamless networking options.

Measuring only 2.3” in height, the FES8680 includes DIN rail kit and wall mounting brackets for easy installation on any locations where space is critical. FES8680 has a built-in Watchdog Timer to reset the system after a crash or system error, which reduces the need for maintenance. The system supports wide voltage power input from 9 to 24V DC to meet the requirements of unstable electricity environments. Moreover, the FES8680 is fully compatible with 32/64 bit versions of Window 7 / 8 and Linux.
