Center for Independent Living of Broward Announces Leadership CILB Class IV

Fort Lauderdale, FL, March 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Center for Independent Living of Broward (CILB) welcomes the newest members of Leadership CILB.

On Thursday, February 19, the Leadership CILB program held the opening retreat for Class IV and welcomed six new members to the Leadership CILB family: Guillermo Baena, Lisa Doering, Matthew Dyer, Juan Carlos Gil, Myra Goldick, and Leslie Jacoby.

The opening retreat was a day of teambuilding, where participants learned more about each other and the requirements of the Leadership CILB program. They heard from Corey Hinds, Executive Director of the Center for Independent Living of Broward, and took part in a leadership activity, facilitated by Dr. Jené Kapela, Program Director of the Leadership CILB program (Jené Kapela Leadership Solutions, LLC). The Opening Retreat was held at ArtServe in Ft. Lauderdale, and Jaye Abbate, ArtServe’s Executive Director, welcomed the class and discussed ArtServe’s impact in the community. The retreat ended with the participants discussing how they can serve as advocates through their Class IV community project.

As the first leadership program of its kind, nationwide, Leadership CILB sets out to create future advocates among the disability community.

The Center for Independent Living of Broward is a cross-disability advocacy organization, one of over 500 throughout the nation, whose mission is to offer assistance to people with disabilities in fulfilling their goals of independence and self-sufficiency.
