The S.H.A.P.E. Community Center in its 37th year is one of the most visible and involved community centers in Houston’s African-American community and the Houston community as a whole. Their mission to improve the quality of life through programs and activities with emphasis on Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work & Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity and Faith make them a great partner for the Mike James Foundation.

The Mike James Foundation has also partnered with Fiesta Mart and Nationwide Insurance to provide free turkeys and blankets, blood pressure checks, asthma education, HIV testing, Sickle Cell education, health insurance registration, diabetes screening, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.

“I am so blessed to get paid to play a game I love. And my Foundation helps me to return those blessings to my community.” Mike further states, “Our goal for this event is to provide families with food, resources, health screening and fun.”
