Local Artists Sketch Duluth

Sketchers capture Duluth one sketch at a time.

Duluth, GA, March 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Local area artists capture Duluth through their eyes in a rapidly executed freehand drawing known as sketching. “Duluth Sketchers” is a grassroots group of artists whose mission is to capture what’s unique and beautiful about the City of Duluth such as its landscaping, architecture, people or anything that catches their attention.

“It’s just about going out and recording what you see. It’s not intended to be in the sense of a work of art. I consider it gathering information because sometimes it does turn into a painting,” said Duluth Sketchers creator Sue Adams.

Inspired by the international organization, Urban Sketchers, the group decided to create a local group back in January to get local artists together to do what they love most.

“This is something that is unique to the area and this just shows how the 'Arts' continues to resonate throughout our community,” said Mayor Nancy Harris.

The group has less than a dozen members from different parts of Gwinnett and meets on the first Thursday of every month at different locations throughout Duluth to keep their creativity flowing. The next meeting is scheduled for April 2nd and anyone is welcome to join. All skill levels are welcome.
