GCFLearnFree Introduces Algebra Topics

Tutorial Complements Site’s Existing Math Program

Raleigh, NC, March 13, 2015 --(PR.com)-- GCFLearnFree, an online-based educational organization, has added a free Algebra Topics tutorial to its roster. The tutorial adds to the site’s existing Math program, which covers addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, and percents.

Lessons covered within Algebra Topics include understanding the order of operations, exponents, and negative numbers. Users accessing the tutorial can also learn how to read, write, and simplify algebraic expressions. There are examples found within each lesson so users can more fully understand how algebra works in real life.

Recognizing that word problems can be especially tricky for many students, the tutorial also offers an introduction to word problems and a lesson on one of the most common word problems encountered by many students: distance problems. Additional lessons in word problems like finding averages and ages will be added in the future.

“The focus of our Algebra Topics tutorial was breaking down a few fundamental concepts into their most basic components and reviewing them in a simple way that’s hopefully not stressful for learners,” says Elizabeth Szypulski, lead instructional designer for the organization’s math and reading curricula. “We hope this will be a way for people to brush up on specific skills they’re having trouble with, or for parents to review their own math knowledge when they’re trying to help their children with algebra.”
