Lookhu Brings Curated TV to Android and iOS Devices in a New Way
Lookhu Inc., a new streaming media company, has recently launched the beta version of its web, Android and IOS app platform in the US. Lookhu, now available in the Google Play & Apple store, features content from many of the top cable TV channels, indie and foreign films, as well as exclusive channels. Lookhu currently offers an ad supported free platform to its users. Soon customers will be able to subscribe to premium a la carte channels monthly.
Lookhu.com offers over 125 channels of curated content -- topics include gaming, news food, music, sports, children's programming, and more.
The thought here is that people want a blend of short form content and long form programming in one TV-like experience.
“We are the personal VJ for the audience giving them the new media TV experience they never knew they couldn’t live without," said co-founder and president Byron Booker. "Lookhu is meant to be the TV destination place for cord cutters, and core nevers.”
The channels on Lookhu range from Day Time talk shows to EDM mixes to Beauty Tips to Seasonal videos. For example, the MusicFest.tv channel is currently showing videos around the SXSW music fest. There is so much to take in around the popular festival Lookhu hopes to make it a little easier to digest.
Lookhu.com, led by co-founders Byron Booker, and Roy Liebrecht, utilizes its patented algorithm and the Lookhu team of VJ’s to curate each channel's programming on a seasonal, daily and hourly basis. The company pulls its videos from sites like YouTube and Vimeo.
“Lookhu provides a balance of traditional TV content and viral videos spanning from cute pet videos to sports highlights to comedy skits to engaging spiritual and educational channels,” added Roy.
