Attorney Michael J. Redenburg Files False Arrest Complaint Against The City of New York
New York, NY, March 30, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Attorney Michael J. Redenburg is representing Anthony Hoskins against The City of New York in his federal lawsuit for alleged wrongful arrest. In Southern District of New York Case Number 15-cv-01707, the complaint demands a trial by jury and includes causes of action for alleged false arrest, failure to intervene, unreasonable search and seizure, unreasonable force and a Monell Claim.

According to the complaint, allegedly Mr. Hoskins was lawfully walking with a friend on December 10, 2014, near 101st Street and Manhattan Avenue in New York County after patronizing a nearby delicatessen. Two individuals allegedly started running toward Mr. Hoskins, grabbed him, slammed him to the ground, punched him in the face and kicked him in the head. Allegedly, the two individuals identified themselves as plainclothes New York City police officers, pulled Mr. Hoskins up from the ground, handcuffed him and rummaged through his pockets. Mr. Hoskins asserts that this was an impermissible search of his person.

Mr. Hoskins alleges that one of the plainclothes officers told him that he had passed something to someone else, then said that he had thrown something on the ground. Allegedly, the officers found nothing on Mr. Hoskins's person, and Mr. Hoskins complained about the manner in which he had just been assailed. When he asked for the officers' shield numbers, Mr. Hoskins alleges that the officers told him to shut up and refused to provide the information before leaving the scene.

Allegedly, Mr. Hoskins sought medical treatment at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Emergency Room for injuries sustained during the attack by the plainclothes officers. The next day, allegedly Mr. Hoskins began treating at William F. Ryan Community Health. Mr. Hoskins claims that as a result of this incident, he allegedly suffered unlawful detention, loss of liberty, emotional distress, embarrassment, fear, anxiety, humiliation, degradation and physical injuries.
