Pantonium Introduces New EDI Sets

Vehicle fleet management software company expands EDI services.

Toronto, Canada, April 04, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Toronto-based vehicle fleet management software company, Pantonium has introduced new EDI (electronic data interchange) features to help further streamline customer operations. EDIs are based on the X12 standard and provide the computer-to-computer sharing of information in a standardized electronic format between business partners. As Pantonium provides complete software solutions for non-emergency medical transportation companies (including scheduling, billing and more), optimizing information communication for clients will be even more effective.

There are two EDI transaction sets which Pantonium has been focusing on. The EDI 837 transaction set is the format established to meet requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) for electronic submission of healthcare claim information including medical transportation services. Claim information includes the following, for a single care encounter between patient and provider:

- A description of the patient
- The patient’s condition for which treatment or services were provided
- The services provided
- The cost of the service

The EDI 835 transaction set is called Health Care Claim Payment and Remittance Advice. It has been required by HIPAA 5010 for electronic transmission of healthcare payment and benefit information. This transaction set is the response to the 837 claim which is sent by the payers which include insurance companies, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), preferred provider organizations (PPOs), or government agencies such as Medicare, Medicaid, etc.

Pantonium Operations executive Don Weaver states: “It has taken a lot of work, but we are confident in the addition of the EDI to our features and the improvements it will mean for our clients’ operations. Ensuring compliance with all required codes in our software and data communication is a top priority for Pantonium.”

Weaver adds: “We are tremendously excited to have implemented the new EDI feature. Now that we have the framework in place to handle medical claims and remittances, we are eager to expand our technology to other EDI forms and industries.”
