Sarasota Youth Opera to Perform in Two December Concerts

Sarasota Youth Opera has scheduled two performances open to the public in December.

Sarasota, FL, November 22, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Shoppers at SAKS Fifth Avenue, Westfield Southgate Mall, will be able to hear the singers in concert Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. on the first floor of the store. The following day, Sunday, Dec. 9, is the Youth Opera’s annual Fall Concert, which will be held at 4 p.m. at St. Armands Key Lutheran Church.

The December 9 performance will include: “Non, aucun hote, vraiment” from Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffman; “Sur la grève en feu” from Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers; “Sing We Praise” from Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio; “The Anvil Chorus” from Verdi’s Il Trovatore; an arrangement of “Willie Has Gone to War” by Stephen Foster; as well as “Far over the Misty Mountains,” which is a sneak preview of the American premiere of Canadian composer Dean Burry’s The Hobbit, to be performed by the Sarasota Youth Opera in May 2008.

The Sarasota Youth Opera Choruses will perform under the direction of Youth Opera Music Director Lance Inouye, with piano accompaniment by Kristen Conn. The program is administered by Becky Taylor, Director of Youth Opera Programs.

Tickets for the December 9 concert will be available prior to the event at the church. The suggested free-will donation is $5 per person. St. Armands Key Lutheran Church is at 40 North Adams Drive, Sarasota 34236.
