Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 12, 2015 --(PR.com
)-- Krishna Rajagopal, CEO of AKATI Consulting was invited as a guest speaker to the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) Conference held in Kuala Lumpur. The presentation was titled 'What the hack?’
The objective of this CCID conference was to provide a platform for the Director of CCID to discuss his current direction, strategy and aspirations with the officers present; while fostering fellowship and solidarity among its participants.
Krishna began his presentation by pointing out that “if you use a social network, a Web browser, a public computer, or even a cell phone, chances are, you are in grave danger of falling victim to attacks.” Having gained the attention of the CCID officers, he discussed a few instances where cybercriminals have caused significant losses to commercial organisations through their attacks. Surprisingly some of these incidents involved low tech attacks driven by the carelessness and ignorance of the organisations attacked.
Krishna made it very clear that cybercriminals are in it for the gain, meaning it's no longer about fighting for rights or causing trouble but merely about stealing large sums of money.
Finally, Krishna edified the audience on how to protect against these attacks and on ways to identify a compromise.
The conference was attended by the Director of CCID, CP Dato’ Wira Syed Ismail bin Dato’ Hj, Syed Azizan, the deputy director, chief assistant director, and all department-heads of the Contingent Commercial Crime Investigation department.
