Prestigious Aberystwyth Scholarships Awarded to North Shropshire College Students

Oswestry, United Kingdom, April 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Two North Shropshire College (NSC) A Level students have won scholarships totalling £2000 alongside unconditional offers to study at Aberystwyth University.

Alexandra Pickles took scholarship exams in both Human and Physical Geography which were judged as being of such high calibre that the University have awarded her £1000 and an unconditional offer to study for a degree in Environmental Earth Science. When Alex found out about the offer she says she was "elated," commenting "it’s really nice to see that all my hard work has been recognised and that it has paid off."

Moya Bevan Thomas, one of Alex’s Geography tutors at the College, added "over the last decade, a number of North Shropshire College students have been successful in gaining this scholarship from the University of Aberystwyth. It is particularly pleasing that Alex, who has worked hard to gain this sought after award has been successful as the University have stressed that the competition for such scholarships is becoming stronger each year.”

Samuel Bircham was "very pleased" when he found out that the scholarship exams he took in biology and chemistry also merited £1000 and an unconditional offer. Sam will read Zoology, and has yet to decide which of his university offers to take up.

Sam’s Biology tutor Shôn Prebble goes on to say that "Sam has shown his high level of skills and aptitude in attaining this scholarship, well done Sam."

Head of A Levels, Sara Shelston, commented "We are extremely proud of Sam and Alex and congratulate them on their hard work and commitment, wishing them luck at university."
