Portsmouth, RI, April 24, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Students to Enjoy Enrichment Programs at Summer Camp

RI Kids Create Music School is holding summer art and music camps at the Common Fence Point Community Hall, 933 Anthony Road, Portsmouth, RI. Students from ages six to twenty-one can enroll in the six one-week sessions of the Busy Beaver Piano Camps and the Happy Hands Watercolor Painting Camps beginning on 6/22/2015 and ending on 7/31/2015.

Opening a summer camp in arts and music seemed like a good way for the RI Kids Create Music School to expose school aged children to arts and music enrichment programs which are no longer being offered to the students at public schools.

Experienced piano students will have an opportunity to learn how to improvise and compose music with other music students, while beginning students can learn
Art students will have an opportunity to further develop their painting skills and solve a community problem through their art. Conley Zani of the Common Fence Community Hall says, “We have never had a summer camp here,” and is looking forward to accommodating the students. The Common Fence Point Community Hall has held music concerts, dance, and fitness classes for the past nineteen years.

The RI Kids Create Music School offers instruction in piano, guitar, and drums and specializes in all genres of music. Its many teachers are performers and music school graduates. Steve Bigelow, a bass guitarist and bass player will teach several of the classes in composition. He has opened for or played with professional recording artists such as Greg Allman, Carole King, and Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

Gail Cavanaugh has been operating the RI Kids Create Music School since 2011, when she started teaching an after- school program in Newport, RI. She has been offering private classes and recently decided to open the summer camp programs since many of the public schools no longer offer enrichment programs in the arts and music. The school’s blog, The Jubilant Pianist, http://www.thejubilantpianist.blogspot.com, offers discussions on how to help the children develop their talent and pursue their passion for playing piano. Parents can join P-TEAM, a group for parents interested in the relationship of technology, education, arts, and music and who want to help their children develop their talents.
