James Dean's Last Drive
The Official 60th Anniversary James Dean Memorial Cruise.
Hollywood, CA, April 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- September 30, 2015 marks the 60th Anniversary of the car wreck that claimed the life of legendary Hollywood icon, actor and car and race enthusiast James Dean. Snow Productions and Corvettes and Customs have teamed up with James Dean, Inc. to organize “James Dean’s Last Drive” the official 60th Anniversary James Dean Memorial Cruise. This “fun run” is a gathering of James Dean fans to celebrate his life and his love for cars and racing.
Unlike the Gumball Rally or Cannonball Run, this is not a race. This road trip starts at the former site of Competition Motors in Hollywood where Dean picked up his brand new and freshly tuned 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder nicknamed “Little Bastard.” Spyders and classic cars from all across the country will then head north to Salinas taking the same route that Dean took and pass by significant points of interest along the way. Sites will include the gas station from the famous photo of James Dean getting gas on Ventura Blvd. as well as the site of his last speeding ticket and the crash site in Cholame.
What makes this cruise different is that participants will continue on and finish the drive that James Dean started that fateful day. The drive will culminate in Salinas at the site of the road races where Dean was headed. A celebration of Dean and all things related will include live music, venders, celebrities and sharing of memories from James Dean fans from around the globe.
