NSC Holds Learner Conference About Social Media

Oswestry, United Kingdom, April 30, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Students at the Oswestry Campus of North Shropshire College (NSC) took part in the sixth annual Learner Conference this week; the theme of the conference was ‘The Use of Social Media in Today’s Society'; a cross-section of students attended a series of workshops about social media behaviour, the use of social media in business and safeguarding in terms of e-safety, grooming and radicalisation.

Guest speakers included Iain Thomson from Shropshire Youth, DC Jemma Greenow and PC Manjit Sidhu from the Warwickshire and West Mercia Police Prevent Team and the College’s Head of Business Studies, Sarah Probert. Lucy Beaumont, Director of Learner Services at NSC, commented that "It was pleasing to see students engaging with enthusiasm in such a relevant and important topic, afterwards, students said that they now had a better understanding of factors relating to keeping safe online and a stronger awareness of opportunities social media offers to businesses."
