Bloomex Donates Tulips for WWII Veterans at VE Day Ceremony

Bloomex Canada is proud to recognize the valiant sacrifices made by our WWII veterans for their service in Europe, by donating tulip bouquets for this year's VE Day Ceremony in Ottawa, Canada.

Ottawa, Canada, May 06, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Bloomex Canada is proud to provide a gift of tulips with special thank you cards for each of the WWII veterans in attendance at the 70th Anniversary Victory in Europe ceremony in Ottawa this year. The ceremony takes place at the National War Memorial on Friday May 8, 2015. The ceremony is coordinated with other activities as part of this year's Canadian Tulip Festival.

On May 8, 1945 the Allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forces of Nazi Germany. Celebrations commenced around the world and commemorations continue on each anniversary of this date as Victory in Europe Day. Canadians were key in may of the important battles in Europe during WWII and these sacrifices are remembered annually across Canada.

Canada has a special relationship with the Dutch after their key efforts in liberating the Netherlands during the later months of WWII. During the war members of the Dutch royal family also sought protection in Canada. Princess Margriet was born in Ottawa in 1943, with part of the Civic Hospital being officially designated as extraterratorial so that she could be born on Dutch soil. Queen Wilhelmina gifted Canada with 100,000 tulips as a token of gratitude. Tulips remain an enduring symbol of the Netherlands and a token of remembrance for the veterans attending the VE Day ceremonies in Ottawa and abroad.

"Bloomex is very pleased to provide tulips bouquets for all of the 150 veterans we expect to be in attendance at this year's ceremonies," states Mark Camphaug, Director of Marketing. "No token of gratitude would be enough to help remember their bravery and sacrifice during the liberation of the Netherlands, but we are pleased to help however we can."
