Local Music and Arts Center Launches Celebrity Studded Rock Camp for Kids

Van Nuys, CA, May 09, 2015 --(PR.com)-- White Oak Music and Arts is launching their first summer rock camp for kids. A star studded camp counselor roster of music’s best giants and super players will be educating and playing alongside students of all levels, aged 6-17. Confirmed celebrity counselors so far are Morris Hayes on keyboards (musical director for the legendary Prince and New Power Generation) and Nik West on bass (Sugarland, Orianthi, John Mayer, American Idol, Fox’s hit TV show, “Glee”) with more names to be publicly announced shortly.

Stylized as a rock camp, this summer music program provides an enriching, well rounded, totally fulfilling and fun experience with top notch professional instructors in which children will be learning instruments through daily studies and lessons, songwriting skills, band cooperation, stage performance, live concerts, and even the chance to film their own music video at the end of the camp with a professional video director with MTV credits.

White Oak Music and Arts (WOMA) is a full service music school, music store and live concert venue that opened in 2013. Started by bassist, Carlos Costa, WOMA strives to be the place where music and art come together in the Van Nuys/Lake Balboa/Reseda/Mid-Valley community. Aside from the summer rock camp, WOMA already offers a myriad of programs, including private and group music lessons, a “Front the Band” program, “Valley Glee” (the resident Glee Club), certified early childhood music classes, open mics, live music nights, and features works by local and regional artists on their walls.

“WOMA was born out of a dream of having a place where artists of all types could come together to form a collaborative community (think Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes circa 1920). We are a school as well as a showcase venue. Whether you’re a musician, artist, dancer or actor, we offer an intimate but state of the art location for shows, recitals, exhibits; you name it! We are super excited about the Summer Rock Camp, also. Our campers will have an opportunity to learn and play music with the pros. Counselors are working musicians and we even have legendary celebrity players that will give campers a unique perspective of what it is to be a musical artist,” says Mr. Costa, the center’s owner and director.
