Nude and Painted in Public, Rabarama Against Homophobia

On the occasion of the International Day against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia, female models dressed only in their skin painted as an iconic sculpture of Rabarama called “TransMutation,” suddenly appeared in public in Florence and Catanzaro to express the support of Rabarama and Kryolan to this cause, through art.

Florence, Italy, May 21, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The initiative in support of the International Day Against Homophobia was wanted by Rabarama, Kryolan and implemented by the local partners of Rabarama Skin Art Festival of Cosenza (Ame Aura Mediterranean) and Florence (Nicla Make-up Artist Center) to demonstrate how art is a fundamental tool to raise awareness.

The event in Florence took place in Piazza Signoria around 5pm: the model covered by a blanket arrived at the scene in a carriage and there she stripped to the amazement of locals and tourists alike. At the same time in Calabria, a model dressed only of colors appeared among the thousands of people crowding the biggest shopping center in Catanzaro Lido.

The Rabarama Skin Art Festival of body paint art is in fact focused on the "body" and its importance in society, culture and politics: "The body is the living temple of harmony, of beauty, vitality and certainly also the place of clash with everything that wants to deny its importance and its very existence," (Manifesto of Skin Art), in this perspective all the gender discrimination and misogyny are negative forces that seek to deny the freedom inherent in the body and in the choices related to it.
