Blue Flag in Creta Maris’ Beach

Blue Flag’s official award ceremony, Open School Day and Beach Cleaning!

Hersonissos, Greece, June 13, 2015 --(PR.com)-- On Tuesday, June 9, Creta Maris celebrated its “Blue Flag” award. The hotel was proudly awarded for the second consecutive year with this voluntary eco-label and celebrated it with an official ceremony. This eco-label’ strict criteria include Water Quality, Environmental Education and Information, Environmental Management, and Safety and Other Services.

The Primary School of the Municipality of Ano Gouves attended the Blue Flag-raising event, with its 170 students, who were at first guided to the organic farm, the composters and the Creta Maris’ Recycling Point “Planet’s breath". However, before, taking part in the Blue Flag ceremony, children got informed on how they can keep the coast and the sea clean and then participated in the cleaning of the beach.

The event was honored by the presence of Hersonissos’ Mayor, Mr. Ioannis Mastorakis, Hersonissos’ Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Mr. Themis Mountrakis, Hersonissos Deputy Mayor for Environment, Mr. Spyros Katsampoxakis, Mr. Manolis Κoukakis director of Hersonissos’ Fire Department and Hersonissos’ Port Authority Chief, Mr. Vasilis Kapsis.

The institutions’ Representatives along with the hotel guests and the students welcomed the Blue Flag, which arrived to the beach of Creta Maris with a parachute by the air! Then, the Director of Creta Maris Beach Resort, Mr. Nikos Vlassiadis and Hersonissos Mayor Mr. Giannis Mastorakis performed the Flag-raising and applauded the whole team of Creta Maris for this important award!
