Smetana’s Litomysl’s festival has become a high quality cultural event, hosting unique projects for the staging of music both domestically and internationally. This year’s program includes music from a variety of projects including Macbeth, The Little Prince, The Phantom of the Opera and many more.

Smetana’s Litomysl Festival was named after one of the greatest composers of the 19th century and creator of modern Czech classical music, Bedrich Smetana. A native to Litomysyl, Smetana is celebrated every summer with the festival. In 1949, the festival’s program consisted mainly of Smetana’s pieces and eventually invited operatic ensembles and other world composers. The festival has continued to attract attention around the world and its importance has extended beyond the borders of Litomysl to Czech’s cultural life as a whole.
