Oswestry, United Kingdom, July 01, 2015 --(PR.com)-- North Shropshire College (NSC) held its annual awards ceremony at the Oswestry Campus recently; the awards celebrated students who have made the largest contribution to the College, the community and have achieved the most in their chosen subject area. The ceremony was attended by guests of honour Clive Knowles, Chairman of the British Ironwork Centre, and Martin Wright, Editor of the Shropshire Star and former NSC student.

All of NSC’s subject areas were represented at the awards, over 37 awards were given to students and members of staff. The main awards given out were the Oswestry Town Council Cup for Overall Student of the Year which was awarded to Hazel Melling, The Fullwood Cup for Agriculture Student of the Year which was awarded to Ashley Morgan, the British Ironwork Centre Award for Travel and Tourism Student of the Year which was Polly Jones and the Townhouse Oswestry Award for Hospitality and Catering Student of the Year which was awarded to Louise Williams.

The College Atrium provided the perfect venue for the prestigious event, the outdoor area looked spectacular with many fabulous pieces of art on loan from the British Ironworks Centre including a beautifully lit archway for guests to walk through. Guests enjoyed scrumptious sweet and savoury canapés produced by the Hospitality and Catering students at the College’s training restaurant, Scholars, and a glass of Prosecco. There was live music and slideshows celebrating the departmental and student achievements. Organisation of the event was supported by the Business Studies students as part of their events module.

Principal and Chief Executive of NSC, Jackie Doodson, commented "It was a superb awards evening, well attended by students, proud parents and local employers. It was an absolute pleasure to see the students receive their awards and I wish them all the best for the future. It was also wonderful to see so many local employers supporting the College and in particular our guests of honour, Clive Knowles from the British Ironworks Centre and former College student, Martin Wright, editor of the Shropshire Star."
