Frankie Manning Ambassadors Showcase 100 Years of Urban Dance at New York City’s SummerStage Festivals

After earning praise in Seattle, San Francisco, and Montreal, Starchild Dance's Traci Bartlow brings Skit Skat How Bout That and B-Love's Hip Hop Jazzy Groove to New York Families.

New York, NY, July 13, 2015 --(PR.com)-- California-based Starchild Dance returns to New York to delight youth and adults alike with its highly praised Skit Skat How Bout That Jazz dance performance, and B-Love’s Hip Hop Jazzy Groove as part of City Parks Foundation’s SummerStage 30th Anniversary Season.

Catapulted by an exultant July 4th weekend at Montreal Swing Riot where she was crowned Solo Jazz co-Champion, Starchild Dance founder, Traci Bartlow joins with native New Yorkers and fellow Frankie Manning Ambassadors of Lindy Hop, Ray F. Davis, Samuel Coleman and Rehema Trimew for a family pleasing, high energy, highly acclaimed four borough city park tour.

Skit Skat How 'Bout That invokes a traditional Harlem Renaissance dance challenge to showcase nearly a century of African American urban dances and honor the birthplace of jazz as a foundation of Hip Hop dance. Starchild Dance will present Skit, Skat, How ‘Bout That, Sunday, July 19th, 4 pm – 7 pm at Queensbridge Park in Queens. Accomplished drummer, Bruce Cox and trumpeter, Eddie Allen provide a swinging soundtrack for this get up and dance performance.

Starchild Dance will also present B-Love’s Hip Hop Jazzy Groove for SummerStage Kids for a second year in a row. B-Love’s Hip Hop Jazzy Groove conveys a love of jazz music and dance to children and teenagers by way of its connection to Hip Hop dance in a truly original, entertaining and educational way. Oakland, CA native, Traci Bartlow is a sought-after dancer, lecturer and choreographer with over 20 years experience teaching dance. Based in African, Jazz and Hip Hop dance, her choreography credits include Amiri Baraka’s jazz/opera, The Sisyphus Syndrome; New York Hip Hop Theater Festival; and Philadelphia’s Illadelph Legends Dance Festival. She is a Frankie Manning Ambassador of Lindy Hop.
