Optical Emission Spectroscopy Now Offered by Eastern Applied

Optical Emission Spectroscopy is a critical tool in metal verification interests and Eastern Applied is now offering the Oxford Instruments line of OES, including the PMI Master Smart with UV Touch Probe which is a popular portable system.

Buffalo, NY, July 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Eastern Applied Research is pleased to expand its alloy analysis equipment offerings to include Optical Emission Spectroscopy technology (OES) by Oxford Instruments. Already offering handheld LIBS and XRF technologies for metal testing, the addition of OES allows Eastern Applied to offer a highly precise option that can quantify light elements, including Carbon, in metal alloys.

The Oxford Instruments line of OES systems includes both stationary (Foundry Master series) and portable (PMI Master series) options. The most recent release is a revolutionary portable system, the PMI Master Smart. Released in late 2014, this is the lightest OES system available (33lbs) on the market. This light weight makes it the most portable and it can be transported to testing areas by cart, carried by hand, or moved with a backpack.

Oxford Instruments portable OES systems have optional arc or spark probes but the most impressive probe is the inventive UV Touch Probe. This probe is a spark probe with optics in the probe head, which actually allows the UV Touch Probe to quantify light elements (C, S, P) in the head. This approach eliminate the transport of plasma light to the body of the system which results in improved measurement speeds and lower limits of detection for these elements. Additionally, the UV Touch Probe is the only OES probe on the market that allows for operation on the probe head…allowing a single user to take measurements without being in front of the systems base.

“We have been hoping to add Optical Emission Spectrometers to our alloy analyzer line-up for some time,” said Shawn Kramer, Chief Executive Officer of Eastern Applied Research. “The combination of the PMI Master Smarts’ portability with the innovative performance of the UV Touch Probe is a very exciting addition to our line-up. We are excited to be able to offer the entire OES line along with XRF and LIBS options.”

In addition to sales of alloy analysis equipment, Eastern Applied Research provides over twenty years of experience offering service and support to spectrometer users. The organizations Western New York service center includes an accredited standards laboratory that provides certified reference materials and certification services.
