NSC Football Scholars Win Football Tournament in Barcelona

Oswestry, United Kingdom, August 02, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Eighteen students from North Shropshire College (NSC) took part in their second consecutive football tournament in Barcelona recently, fourteen of the students were from the College's TNS Programme and four students were completing their Foundation Degree in Sport, Development and Coaching. NSC’s team competed in the Copa Calaluña Football Tournament. The tour was a resounding success; the NSC team defeated one British team, one Spanish team, two Italian teams and drew with one Spanish team before beating the Italian side, Giovanile Rimini, 1-0 in front of a crowd of 1000 to clinch the title.

Dan Stevens, NSC’s Head of Sport and Manager of the team commented, "It was an unbelievable experience for all the squad winning an international tournament against contrasting styles of opponents from differing countries. The lads played superbly and quickly adapted their performances around what was required to make effective progress in a tournament. They coped admirably with the final relishing the opportunity of playing in front of a large amount of spectators which some may not get the chance of again."

After winning the tournament, the team enjoyed the resort of Blanes and the waterpark at Lloret de Mar. On the final day of their tour, the team visited the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Port Olimpico, Montjuic and the Barcelona FC Nou Camp Stadium.
