Wizard World Chicago Attendees to Receive "The Walking Dead #1" Variant Cover by Whilce Portacio, August 20-23

"Bishop" creator has drawn 14th cover in 2015 series available at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center for full-price attendees; VIP fans get additional B&W sketch cover at registration.

(OTCBB: WIZD) and Skybound, Robert Kirkman's imprint at Image Comics, today announced that Bishop creator Whilce Portacio has drawn the 13th in a yearlong series of Limited Edition Exclusive Variant Covers of The Walking Dead #1 comic, to be provided free to all full-price attendees at Wizard World Comic Con Chicago, August 20-23. Skybound’s The Walking Dead created by Kirkman, the groundbreaking, Eisner Award winning comic book series, continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

The exclusive The Walking Dead #1 edition will be produced in extremely limited quantities and is available at registration to fans at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center only while supplies last. VIP attendees will receive an additional black & white sketch version of the comic.

Portacio has been in the business for 30 years. He started as an inker on Alien Legion and Art Adams’ Longshot in 1984 before launching his career as a penciler. He has been a leading comic book talent ever since his big break on Marvel titles Punisher, X-Factor and Uncanny X-Men in the early ‘90s. Portacio was also one of the seven founders of Image Comics. He created Wetworks for Image.

Whilce has worked on Marvel, DC and Image titles like Iron Man: Heroes Reborn, Punisher, X Force, Journey Into Mystery, Hulk, Authority, and Stormwatch. Whilce recently returned to Image Comics collaborating with Glen Brunswick on Non-Humans and a new book soon to be announced.
