Special Art by Special Hands

Safety Harbor, FL, August 09, 2015 --(PR.com)-- On August 12, 2015, The Arc Tampa Bay is pleased to present an engaging evening at Syd Entel Galleries in Safety Harbor, Special Art by Special Hands. This group exhibition will be held beginning at 5:30 p.m. at 247 Main Street in downtown Safety Harbor. Proceeds from art sales will benefit The Arc Tampa Bay and the participating artists.

This is the seventh year that gallery owners Susan Benjamin and Syd Entel have graciously hosted the event showcasing artistic pieces created by participants in one of The Arc Tampa Bay's day programs, Harborside Studios. This particular program enables those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) served by The Arc Tampa Bay to pursue their artistic talents. This year's poster announcing the event features the artwork by The Arc Tampa Bay participant, Donny, a gentleman with Down syndrome. Donny has been involved with the event since its inception. He is an energetic, vibrant individual with talent and inspiration.

“We are thrilled to be involved in this amazing event, focusing on the abilities of individuals served by The Arc Tampa Bay, not their disabilities." – Susan Benjamin, Syd Entel Galleries

This year's event Chair, Ellen Pope, has had a "behind the scenes" tour at Harborside Studios, located on 5th Avenue in Safety Harbor, of the pieces that will be available for sale at the August 12th event. "I am amazed by the depth of talent in this year's show. Attendees will be stunned by the beauty and creativity," said Pope.

"This is one of our favorite special events as it truly captures the spirit of The Arc Tampa Bay, says Madison Hauenstein, Executive Director of The Arc Tampa Bay Foundation. Artists will be strolling the reception greeting attendees with smiles and laughter."

Guests at this reception will enjoy hors d'oeuvres provided by Clear Sky Beachside Café and Clear Sky Draught Haus, and wine provided by Syd Entel Galleries.

Harborside Studios, a day program under the direction of The Arc Tampa Bay, works with 45 individuals weekly. Teachers provide assistance in watercolors, acrylics, ceramics, and jewelry making, among other mediums. The affordable art displayed will be available for purchase. Guests can easily secure an original masterpiece, painted by local artists with I/DD. The gallery at Harborside Studios is open daily from 8:00 am until 2:00 p.m.
